The unexpected interruption in our trek gave the local people a chance to introduce us to their village.

We had noticed the basketball game on our way in, and had heard the enthusiastic shouts of players and fans rising and falling in the background as we spoke with my old friends in the school house. Now we found out that two simultaneous games were going on  -  one for women and one for men.

Around the edges of the basketball court, the weekly Saturday market was in full swing. soda crackers, soft drinks, batteries of various sizes, lighters, trade tobacco, cigarette paper and squares of old newspapers were all for sale.

A man came over to shake hands.  It turned out that he was the son of Goli, one of Bosboi Gul's late sons.  I noticed the same smiling good humor as I remembered so well about his father.

A couple of young men, busy with a cell phone, looked up as we passed by.

At the furthest edge of the village, I was invited to visit an Anglican shrine.
